As for this game, don’t expect to see a lot of play from the starters – neither team can stand to sustain key injuries this early in the 2013 campaign.
For Dallas, keeping playmakers like Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and DeMarco Murray clean is going to be a priority. Head coach Jason Garrett may not publicly be on the hot-seat, but all signs are pointing to the Cowboys needing to perform well + make the playoffs for Garrett to keep his job.
The same really cannot be said for Dolphins’ head coach Joe Philbin who enters his second season with Miami. Philbin seemingly has things headed in the right direction and Dolphins’ fans + the NFL media are placing lofty expectations on them this coming season. With several appearances during prime-time, national broadcasts, we’ll get plenty of chances to see the ‘Phins in action… whether that will be a good or a bad thing remains to be seen.
This is a crappy first game to start the season, but at least it is a sign that football season is close.
