The Packers were the only team in the first week of the preseason not to score a point, so things can only go up from an offensive standpoint.
It was rather surprising that a team with a potent offense like Green Bay’s was held scoreless, but that is the nature of the preseason. Of course, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the starters were only in for a brief stint. Rodgers played just a couple of series, completing three of his five attempts for 62 yards. He looked pretty good. After Rodgers left though, the Packers’ offense managed just another 160 total yards of offense the rest of the way against the Arizona Cardinals.
The backup quarterback competition is intriguing, as Vince Young did see some action. It was Graham Harrell who took the majority of the snaps throw, throwing the ball 19 times and completing 12 attempts.
We might see Young take a few more snaps this game as he gets into the flow of the system since being signed last week. Don’t expect rodgers to be in for any extensive amount of time.
The Rams dropped to the Cleveland Browns 27-19. The highly anticipated debut of rookie Tavon Austin was met with no catches. We’ll see if quarterback Sam Bradford is able to get the ball out to him against Green Bay. He is electric with the ball in his hands and should be exciting to watch all season long.
