Chicago has an early one-game lead over Detroit and a two-game lead over the Green Bay Packers through three weeks of the 2013 season. Things have been clicking offensively and defensively for the Bears.
Chicago racked up 40 points last week in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, as that defense continues to put points on the board as well. There might not be another defense in the NFL that has the ability to score like the Bears.
Chicago will get their biggest defensive challenge of the season this week against Matthew Stafford and the Lions. The health of running back Reggie Bush is still up in the air, as it is not yet known if the running back will be on the field for this one. He has been practicing this week, but has not been cleared.
Outside of that the loss of Nate Burleson to a broken arm from a car accident will hurt as well. That vaults young receiver Ryan Broyles out of Oklahoma into the spotlight opposite Calvin Johnson. Broyles will be an important player going forward.
Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is completing 67 percent of his passes and thrown six touchdowns to just three interceptions this season. He is definitely playing with some confidence, and a win over the Lions on Sunday can create some early separation in the division.
