The Falcon lost a tough one at home on Sunday night to the New England Patriots in a game that they need to win very badly. Atlanta fell to 1-3 on the season, which equals their regular season loss total from all of last year.
Atlanta simply can’t afford to fall to 1-4, with the New Orleans Saints rolling in the division, that is if they have any hope of making the postseason.
The Falcon are favored in this one, and will be favored in every game for the next four weeks most likely up until a Week 10 showdown at home with Seattle. That means that there are plenty of opportunities for winnable games over the next month. It starts with a victory over the Jets on Monday Night though.
New York comes into this one off of a blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans 38-13 in a game that nothing went right.
Quarterback Geno Smith continues to go through the growing pains of a rookie and will face a tough environment in the Georgia Dome where the Falcons play well.
Of course, that really couldn’t be said last week when Atlanta was down 30-10 at one point before making a comeback and nearly forcing overtime with the Patriots.
The Falcons redzone offense has to get better if they hope to contend this season. They are settling for too many field goals and not coming away with enough points. Let’s see if this beings to change Monday night.
