Who would have thought that Andy Reid would be able to turn things around so fast in Kansas City? Certainly many believed the team would be improved, but to begin the season 5-0 has been very unexpected. And what’s more, Kansas City has some very winnable games coming up over the course of the next month before they face Denver in Week 11. Of course, no game is easy to win in the NFL, especially this season (Jacksonville not included).
It’s not only been improvement on offense, for which Reid is known for, it’s been the play of the defense. This is a team that ranks 4th in the NFL against the pass, and has not allowed a team to score more than 17 points on them all season. This scoring defense has allowed them to remain in games even when the offense isn’t clicking.
Oakland comes in off of a nice win over the San Diego Chargers in Week 5, pulling to 2-3 on the season. It was a big win, but the Raiders can pull to .500 with a victory this Sunday.
Quarterback Terrelle Pryor was very efficient against the Chargers, completing 18 of 23 passes on the night for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and most importantly zero interceptions. If he is able to play like that all season then Oakland will definitely win some games.
But the matchup between Pryor and the Chiefs defense will be a tough one. Kansas City has defended the passing game well all season, forcing teams to run it. With Darren McFadden still out, that makes this task much more difficult.
