The Seahawks turned some heads last season in their rise up the NFL ladder, led by a rookie quarterback in Russell Wilson. The Seahawks made the playoffs and nearly upset Atlanta in the second round. The performance of last season hasn’t been overlooked and many are high on Seattle coming into this season.
Thursday will be the first look at Wilson and company for the 2013 season. It should have been the first time for Percy Harvin to be on the field in a Seahawks uniform but a torn hip labrum and the resulting surgery will keep him sidelined for quite a while.
San Diego will be trying to figure out a way to compete with Denver in the AFC West this season. The team made some strides to try and improve, bringing in defensive end/rushing linebacker Dwight Freeney. But the performance of the Chargers will continue to come back to quarterback Philip Rivers. San Diego drafted OL D.J. Fluker to come in and try to give Rivers the time he needs to get the ball in the receivers’ hands. The Chargers also drafted LB Manti Te’o out of Notre Dame, so it should certainly be interesting to see how he plays at the next level.
