One thing that we know going in is that Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III will not be on the field playing this week. But the good news for Redskins fans is that he seems to be coming along nicely. After campaigning to get in on full-team drills, Griffin did participate in 11-on-11 runs this week, stepping up from 7-on-7 drills.

It’s unlikely that Griffin will play at all in the preseason, but the goal here is to ensure that he will be ready to go in Week 1 of the regular season.

As for Pittsburgh, it was an 18-13 loss to the New York Giants in their first preseason game. It was a bunch of mistakes by Pittsburgh that led to the defeat. In particular were the mistakes committed in the special teams department, which included having a punt blocked.

The running back situation for Pittsburgh is still up in the air as well, with rookie running back Le’Veon Bell competing with Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman. That will continue on into this week against Washington.

First round draft selection Jarvis Jones made his presence known on the field right away, recovering a fumble for the Steelers. Jones is predicted to be a young star in the defensive system for Pittsburgh. Jones will try and make the Steelers forget about James Harrison.
