Alabama is of course the back-to-back defending national champions and winner of three of the last four. The term ‘dynasty’ has been thrown around, but if you asked head coach Nick Saban he wouldn’t agree because they have done it with a bunch of different players.
Some are saying that this might be the most talented team that Saban has had during his time in Tuscaloosa, which is interesting because Alabama has to replace a ton of talent that went to the NFL. One position that they do not have to fill though is at quarterback. A.J. McCarron will try to become the only quarterback in the BCS era to win three national championships.
Things are looking good for Alabama to get back there, with a schedule that does not have Georgia, South Carolina or Florida from the east.
Of course, Virginia Tech might take issue with this. The Hokies don’t have a ton of hype coming out of Blacksburg this season, but this is still a Frank Beamer coached program that will have playmakers on the field.
The Hokies are big underdogs to the Crimson Tide in this matchup, and will have to try to come out and strike first to get up early in the game. Alabama dismantled Michigan on this field last year, getting up early. Virginia Tech will need to try and survive the first three quarters and hope to make something happen in the fourth.
