The Eagles currently sit at 6-5 and in first place in the NFC East but have struggled at home this season. Their only win came against the Washington Redskins in week 11 after starting the season with four straight home losses. The difference of late has been the play at the quarterback position led by Nick Foles who Chip Kelly announced yesterday as the starter for the remainder of the 2013 NFL season. Foles in his last three games threw for 932 yards, 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions. All three of those games the Eagles won to help put them in first place.
For the Cardinals, it simply comes down to the play of quarterback Carson Palmer and their defense. The Cardinals number two ranked rush defense has a difficult task in week 13 going against LeSean McCoy and an Eagles running game that averages over 150 yards a game. The defense will also have a difficult job trying to slow down the big play potential of DeSean Jackson. If the Cardinals defense can limit both of these things and Palmer can continue to play as well of late they have a shot.
During the Cardinals four game winning streak Palmer threw for 1,146 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. This will mark the first time in his eleven year career that he will face the Eagles. This is the only team in the league he has yet to face.
These two teams will take the field on Sunday in a game that both teams need to win to stay in the playoff hunt.
