The Packers have been in the news quite a bit of late, but mostly not for reasons that would like to be. Several Green Bay players have gone down with injury, led by LT Bryan Bulaga. The injury to Bulaga is not good for an offensive line that already allowed QB Aaron Rodgers to get sacked more times than any other QB in the NFL last season (Arizona gave up the most sacks as a team).

WR Jordy Nelson is also out and will be gone for the remainder of the preseason due to surgery. Nelson is expected to pay a bigger role with the departure of Greg Jennings to Minnesota in the off-season.

Earlier this week, Green Bay added QB Vince Young to the roster on a one-year tender. Young will compete for the second string job with the likes of Graham Harrell for the right to be the guy behind Rodgers.

As for the team on the other sideline, Arizona has plenty to work if they want to achieve a better result than their 2012 campaign (5-11). The Cardinals are in a particularly tough NFC West division this year with San Francisco and Seattle predicted to be Super Bowl contenders.

The QB position still isn’t what the team would like it to be, but then again the team finished last in the NFL in rushing in 2012… there is definitely room to improve on all offensive fronts.

And even though the Cardinals have one of the best wide receivers in the league with Larry Fitzgerald, it was announced this week that DB Patrick Peterson will see some time on the offense. It was already stated that Peterson would have an offensive package and could see as many as 15 touches per game… some of those are likely to be pass receptions.
