It should certainly be an interesting matchup, with these two former college teammates and competitors now leading NFL franchises.
Manuel made his NFL debut last week on the road against Indianapolis. The rookie played the entire first half, and looked good towards the end, completing 16 of 21 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
The quarterback competition for Buffalo will continue into the game against Minnesota, with Kevin Kolb reportedly making progress from his knee injury. Kolb and Manuel are competing for the starting job, though Manuel has been getting the first team snaps because of the injury to Kolb. It’s still unclear whether or not Kolb will see the field for this preseason game.
For the Vikings, they lost 27-13 to Houston while Ponder didn’t play particularly well. He only saw a couple of series though on the field.
Adrian Peterson didn’t even play, and the jury is still out on whether or not he will see some time on the field against the Bills. Peterson is coming off an ACL injury where he had no preseason rushes a year ago, only to go on and rush for 2,097 last season. So really, it might be the smart thing to keep him on the sideline, but who knows.
