Texas will be licking its wounds coming into this game, fresh off of a disastrous performance on the road against BYU in a 40-21 loss. The Longhorns surrendering more than 500 yards rushing. That is the most ever given up in program history. For a team coming in with almost all of its starters and picked to win the Big 12, the loss on Saturday was devastating.
Now, Texas has to regroup and prepare for a young Ole Miss team that has plenty of talent. The Rebels opened with a big win on the road over Vanderbilt in the SEC, then followed that up with an easy victory over SE Missouri State.
The hype surrounding this Ole Miss team started in February when they signed a top-five recruiting class that included the No.1 overall recruit Robert Nkemdiche.
Ole Miss found themselves in the Top-25 this week while Texas fell out from No.15 to unranked after the loss to the Cougars. The Longhorns will be favored in this game, but Ole Miss has the potential to make a big statement and push it to 3-0 before Alabama is up next on the schedule in two weeks.
The key player in this one for the Rebels might be freshman wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. He was the No.1 WR recruit in the 2013 class, and has shown why with 11 receptions for 109 yards. He leads in the team in receptions and has been a great target for quarterback Bo Wallace.
