The Cardinals will be looking for their first win of the season, dropping a tough division game 27-24 last week to St. Louis. New quarterback Carson Palmer had a nice game, throwing for 327 yards and two touchdowns, but did have one interception. It was a back-and-forth battle where Arizona controlled a 24-13 lead, but were shut out in the fourth quarter.
Arizona is hoping that a fourth-quarter performance like the one they had in Week 1 doesn’t carry over into this week’s matchup with Detroit.
The Lions defeated Minnesota in Week 1, thanks to a 357-yard, two-touchdown performance by Matthew Stafford. He certainly enjoyed his new weapon in the backfield in Reggie Bush, dumping off a 77-yard touchdown pass to the new Lion that Bush took 75 yards himself.
Detroit looks dangerous on offense and have improved on defense as well. After allowing a 78-yard touchdown run to Adrian Peterson on the opening play, the Lions gave up just 17 yards on 15 carries to him the rest of the game.
The Lions controlled the line of scrimmage, and if they can do that against the Cardinals it will be a long day for Arizona. Palmer isn’t exactly mobile back there in the pocket, and could be more like a sitting duck for some of these standout defensive lineman and line back within the front-seven.
