The Saints come into this game unbeaten at 5-0 and playing arguably the best football of any team in the league to this point. New Orleans looks completely different on defense between this season and last season, and for the better. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has his unit playing at a high level, which has made life easy on Drew Brees and an offense that is typically one of the tops in the NFL.
This is the second-straight road test for New Orleans, already having gone and handed the Chicago Bears their second loss of the season in Week 5. The Saints have the chance to do the same against New England.
The Patriots might get tight end Rob Gronkowski back from back and forearm injuries he suffered. Gronkowski would be welcomed with open arms by the team and fans. He has been practicing all week, but his status remains uncertain.
Quarterback Tom Brady has been having to distribute the ball to a bunch of young players who are improving as the weeks go on. New England’s 4-1 start has been good, though they failed to score a touchdown last week against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. That feat snapped Brady’s consecutive games with a touchdown just two shy of Brees’ NFL record.
This matchup should be a good one, and definitely one that fans of the NFL will be paying attention to. The Saints have the chance to grab the NFC South division by the throat early with a win, with the Atlanta Falcons struggling mightily with wins and now injuries.
