The SEC set a new record in the AP poll with eight teams ranked. This is the first time a team has gotten eight teams into the top-25, with Auburn squeaking in at No.24. Though if the Tigers drop to the Aggies, it’s hard to see them staying in the rankings and their stay might be short-lived.

Auburn already has two more conference wins this season than they had all of last year, because they went 0-8. The Tigers are 5-1 on the season, and 2-1 in the SEC with wins over Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Their lone loss came at the hands of No.6 LSU 35-21.

The Tigers have been getting it done on the ground, rushing for 287 yards per game which ranks seventh in the country. But it’s been defensively where they have improved as well, limiting teams to under 20 points per game at 18.8. Aside from LSU scoring 35 points, no team has scored more than 22 points on Auburn this season.

It will be a difficult task trying to contain Johnny Manziel and a Texas A&M offense that ranks 4th in the nation in scoring, at close to 48 points per game. Manziel has been great this season, with the team averaging 361 passing yards (6th) and 225 rushing yards (20th) making for one of the best offenses in the country. This is a team that hung 42 on Alabama.

But it’s no secret that the Aggies aren’t very good on defense. In fact, they rank 96th in the country in scoring defense, surrendering 42 points per game.

This has the potential to be yet another high-scoring SEC affair.
